Roman Imperial ae AS of Augustus Caesar, Spanish Mint
Obverse: Bare head of Augustus Caesar right
Reverse: Bull facing right
Wow ! This is one you don't see very often. It is a good ae AS of Augustus Caesar that you will want for your collection. Tater isn't quite sure on the specifics on this one but I'm sure someone will let me know. This coin was found in modern day Spain. It weighs 9.8 grams and is 27 millimeters wide. Sadly the coin has a broken spot but the important stuff on the coin is still there!! Bid early on this one and good luck !!!!!......Tater
The Roman imperial ae as was reissued under Augustus during the coin reform starting in 23 BC. Generally produced in copper and weighing ususally between 9 and 10 grams although as years went on they became smaller. Its denomination made it worth a fraction of the sestertius. two and one half asses equaled one sestertius.
