Roman Imperial ae Dupondius of Marcus Aurelius
Obverse: Radiate head of Marcus Aurelius right
Reverse: Aequitas ??? seated left
This is a good dupondius of Marcus Aurelius weighs a heavy 16.3 grams and is 27 millimeters wide. The portrait of the emperor and the extreme detail on this coin as you can see in the picture is very fine and that makes this coin that much more desirable.Enjoy !! .......Tater
The Roman imperial dupondius was valued at one half of a sestertius or about 2 asses or one one eighth of a denarius. The coin is distinguished from the ae as by the radiate bust of the emperor. Also they were struck in orichalcum (brass) versus the as struck in copper.
